How to View Email Headers in Popular Email Clients
Email headers contain technical information showing how an email was sent and routed. They are commonly required when troubleshooting spam, phishing, or email delivery issues.
Gmail (Web – Desktop)
- Open the email.
- Click the three vertical dots (?) next to the Reply button.
- Select Show original.

Gmail (Mobile App – Android & iOS)
The Gmail mobile app does not show full headers.
- Open Gmail in a mobile browser (Chrome or Safari)
- Enable Desktop site
- Follow the Gmail Web steps above

Outlook (Windows Desktop – 2016 / 2019 / 2021 / Microsoft 365)
- Double-click the email to open it in a new window.
- Click File ? Properties.
- Copy the content under Internet headers.

Outlook (Web – Outlook.com / Microsoft 365)
- Open the email.
- Click the three dots (?).
- Select View ? View message details.

Apple Mail (macOS)
- Open the email.
- Click View ? Message ? All Headers.

Apple Mail (iPhone / iPad – iOS)
- Open the email.
- Tap the Reply arrow.
- Select View Message Source (available in newer iOS versions).

Yahoo Mail (Web)
- Open the email.
- Click the three dots (?).
- Select View raw message.

Mozilla Thunderbird
- Open the email.
- Click View ? Headers ? All.
Shortcut keys:
Windows/Linux: Ctrl + U
Mac: Cmd + U

cPanel Webmail (Roundcube)
- Open the email.
- Click More ? Show source.

cPanel Webmail (Horde)
- Open the email.
- Click More / Other ? View source.

Important Notes When Sharing Email Headers
- Always copy the full raw headers
- Do not edit or truncate the content
- Avoid screenshots — paste plain text instead
